Open house for Dolores Hett's 80th

An open house to celebrate Dolores Hett's 80th birthday will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, at the Canton Senior Center.

Cards may be sent to Hett at P.O. Box 416, Canton, KS 67428.

Heritage museum to meet Jan. 15

The Mennonite Heritage Museum will hold its annual meeting at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, at the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church near Goessel.

The annual report will be presented and board members will be elected.

A special presentation by Kathy Tolbert, director of the Rolling Hills Wildlife Adventure near Salina, will include pictures and a review of the history and future of the zoo.

A "Faspa" will be served following the meeting. MHM memberships will also be available.

The public is invited to attend.

Centre High to host homecoming Jan. 13

Centre High School will hold its Winter Homecoming Friday, Jan. 13.

The king and queen will be crowned at 6:30 p.m. in the main gym, preceding the varsity girls' game versus Herington.

At 5 p.m., junior varsity girls will play in the main gym and JV boys in the new gym.

The varsity boys' game will follow the varsity girls' game.

State license offices to handle CDLs

As of Jan. 1, all individuals applying for or renewing a commercial driver's license must visit one of the state driver's license offices.

CDL licenses, including name and address changes, may no longer be processed at county offices.

Non-commercial Class A or B licenses, which are not considered CDLs, are the only exceptions. County offices will continue to process Class C and Identification cards.

Questions may be directed to the local County Treasurer or the Kansas Driver License Bureau at 785-296-3963.

Baby sign-language class set for Jan. 16

Marion County Parents as Teachers is providing a baby sign-language class from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, at Hillsboro Elementary School.

Traci Helmer will facilitate an overview of this helpful way to communicate with infants and toddlers.

Supper, door prizes and child care will be provided free of charge.

Camp Wood to host murder mystery days

Camp Wood YMCA in Elmdale is hosting a murder mystery weekend Jan. 27 to Jan. 29.

Activities will include horseback riding, a murder mystery game and poker and domino tournaments.

Lincolnville to hold special meeting

A special meeting will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, at Lincolnville City Hall, 218 W. Main.

The agenda includes a discussion of the city utility bills for city hall, the city shop and the community building.

The status of the community building will also be discussed.

KU's Davis to share ADHD strategies

Peabody Elementary School will feature an Interactive Distance Learning conference from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Jan. 17.

Kathy Davis of University of Kansas Medical Center of Kansas City will present strategies and hints on how to interact with children suffering from attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

MCSEC board to meet Jan. 16 in Florence

The Marion County Special Education Cooperative board of directors will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, in the MCSEC conference room at 302 W. Eighth in Florence.
