Stephen James Bowers, 20, entrepreneur, died Jan. 7 in Manhattan.
Burial will be held at 10 a.m. today, Jan. 11, at Marion Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at Eastmoor United Methodist Church in Marion.
He was born Feb. 17, 1985 at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas, City, Kan. He was adopted by Greg and Mary Beth Bowers of Marion. He was a 2004 graduate of Marion High School.
He is survived by his parents; two brothers, Ben and wife Tasha of Palmer, Ala., and Luke of Marion; a sister, Rhonny of Marion; grandparents, David and Shirley Bowers and Charles Kjellinl, all of Marion; a cousin and friend, Mitch Enos of Marion; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Opal Breen, 95
Opal Pate Breen, 95, retired waitress, died Jan. 5 at Legacy Park in Peabody.
The service is set for 11 a.m. today, Jan. 11, at Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Peabody, officiated by pastor Don Mackintosh.
She was born Nov. 3, 1910, to David Hubert Folks and Winifred Slater in Carbondale. She was married to John Breen, who predeceased her in 1981.
A memorial has been established with Seventh Day Adventists of Newton.
Wayne Lowry, 68
Wayne L. Lowry, 68, retired fire chief, died Jan. 6 at Salem nursing home in Hillsboro.
The service is at 1:30 p.m. today, Jan. 11, at Hillsboro United Methodist Church with pastor Nancy Lambing officiating. Burial is at Livingston Cemetery in rural Abilene.
He was born Jan. 23, 1937, to Delbert Lowry and Tabitha Davidson Lowry in Abilene. In 1956 he was married to Elaine Neaderhiser, who survives in Hillsboro.
He is also survived by two sons, Robert and wife Sara Lowry of Colorado and Dale and wife Christina Lowry of Chanute; a brother, Ronald of Nickerson; a sister, Judy Adee of Abilene; and eight grandchildren.
Memorials have been established with Shriners Hospital and Hospice Care.
Stuart Oblander, 62
Stuart Duane Oblander, 62, retired silk-screen printer in Golden, Colo., died Dec. 27.
The funeral was held Dec. 30 at Carlson-Ford-Geisendorf Funeral Home in Salina. Burial was at Durham Park Cemetery.
He was born April 6, 1943, to Emmanuel E. and Alvina Felicia Oblander in Wichita. In 1998 he was married to Bambi Lynn Erickson, who survives in Salina.
He is also survived by two sons, Wayne Oblander of Atlanta and Michael Oblander of Lakewood, Colo.; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A memorial has been established with Salina Animal Shelter.
