We just returned from a great trip to Atlanta to see the Camelis. The boys are growing up so fast.
We now have a great new way to get our stuff down there. Nancy bought a duffel bag about the size of Rhode Island on a recent buying trip in New York. All we have to do is throw everything in there, check it and go.
The casino poll on our Web site is still running about 4-to-1 against. You still have time to register your wishes at www.hillsborofreepress.com.
We were sitting around the table over the weekend discussing how it takes a little coffee or something to get going in the morning. Alex says, "Kids don't need coffee because they are awake when they get up."
While in Atlanta, Al Franken's radio show was being broadcast from the Variety Playhouse just up the street from the Camelis in Little 5 Points.
Since it was free and the boys were in school, I thought I'd take it in.
This venue is a lot like the Orpheum in Wichita. Jimmy Carter was the special guest (via phone) during the third hour. I took a break for lunch and then went back.
My take on the show is that it is just like the Rush Limbaugh radio show-only with from the opposite political perspective. Franken bashes conservatives and Limbaugh bashes liberals.
Franken is very funny and quick-witted.
Before the show started he asked everyone to turn off their cell phones unless they were waiting for a transplant.
Five-year-old Louis showed us how he could take both legs and hook them behind his head. It was crazy how easy it was for him to do that.
On Saturday I heard some commotion in the boys' room, so I went to take a peek. Both boys were jumping halfway across the room from the top of their bunk bed to an old sofa they have in there.
I asked them if they would be doing that if their parents knew about it, and I didn't get a very quick or positive response. A little later they were overhead saying that if they could jump clear across the room they "would be the masters."
Louis keeps little pieces of frozen paper towels in a baggie in the freezer. He said he needs them for his forehead.
How much does a pound cake weigh?
On a little shopping trip, we found those wire puzzles that, for just a dollar a piece, kept the adults and kids occupied a good deal of the time.
Just when you get them figured out, you can't get them apart the next time.
