Dorman Becker, 89

Dorman C. Becker, 89, retired banker, died Nov. 19 in Hillsboro.

Burial is at 10 a.m. today, Nov. 23, at Durham Park Cemetery. The service is at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Durham with pastor Curtis Wiens officiating.

He was born Aug. 18, 1916, to Emanuel Becker and Lena Frank Becker in Durham. In 1946 he was married to Mary Helen Hayes, who survives in Durham.

He is also survived by a son, Kent and wife Ginger Becker of Durham; two daughters, Sherry and husband Dennis Conyers of McPherson and Tammi and Larry Meysing of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a sister, Genevieve Belton of Hillsboro; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial funds have been established with First Baptist Church and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.

Esther Bowers, 97

Esther K. Bowers, 97, died Nov. 18 in Peabody.

The graveside service was Nov. 21 at Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Peabody with pastor Jim Pohlman officiating.

She was born March 9, 1908, to John Bafus and Elizabeth Lust in Elbing. In 1929 she was married to Earnest "Bud" David Bowers, who predeceased her.

She is survived by several nieces and great-nieces.

A memorial has been established with Legacy Park of Peabody.

Dean Fincham, 89

Dean Fincham, 89, retired senior financial adviser and rancher, died Nov. 19 at St. Luke Living Center in Marion.

The service was Nov. 22 at Eastmoor United Methodist Church in Marion with pastors John Goering and Rick Branson officiating.

He was born June 6, 1916, to George and Mary Fincham in Pratt. In 1979 he was married to Johelen Beeman, who survives in Marion.

He is also survived by three sons, Roy J. Fincham of Pratt, Richard Barnes of Milwaukee, Wisc., and Greg Barnes of Santa Fe, N.M.; three daughters, Sara Haas of Pratt, Claudia Slicker of Tulsa, Okla., and Debra Thole of Kansas City; a sister, Mar Jean Wyland of Lake Oswego, Ore.; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Memorials have been established with Eastmoor United Methodist Church and St. Luke Living Center.

Elda Penner, 84

Elda M. Penner, 84, homemaker, died Nov. 13 at Kidron Bethel of North Newton.

The funeral was held Nov. 19 at Trinity Mennonite Church in Hillsboro with pastor Tim Kliewer officiating. Burial was at the Johannestal Cemetery in rural Hillsboro.

She was born Aug. 30, 1921, to John Goertz and Adelia Schmidt in Hillsboro. In 1941 she was married to Milton Penner, who predeceased her in 1997.

She is survived by four sons, Lawrence Penner and Ray A. Penner, both of North Newton, Clayton Penner of Newton and Stuart Penner of Hillsboro; a daughter, Roseann Penner Kaufman of Prairie Village; a brother, Linferd Goertz of Ferndale, Wash.; a sister, Louise Bartel of North Newton; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial funds have been established with Trinity Mennonite Church and Bethel College in North Newton.

Harold Taylor, 96

Harold C. Taylor, 96, retired farmer and school bus driver, died Nov. 20 in Hillsboro.

The funeral is at 10 a.m. today, Nov. 23, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Peabody with pastor Robert Kloth officiating. Burial is at Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Peabody.

He was born Jan. 2, 1909, in Hagerman, N.M. In 1934 he was married to Adele Unruh, who predeceased him in 1988. In 1989 he was married to Yunietta Russell Geis, who survives.

He is also survived by two daughters, Virginia and husband Flavio de Laval of Morro Bay, Calif., and Jane and husband Eugene of Lindsborg; a son, Warren Taylor of Midland, Texas; a stepdaughter, Aleta and husband Kenneth Ashlock of Canton; a stepson, Russell Geis of Great Bend; two granddaughters, two great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren.

A memorial has been established with Hospice Care of Kansas.
