Bluejay women win 70-60, men victorious 70-56 Both the Tabor College men's and women's basketball teams were in action Friday afternoon at Sterling as part of the Sterling Classic and both teams came home with wins.

In the opener, the Tabor women defeated Northwestern Oklahoma State 70-60 to even its record for the season at 2-2.

After falling behind in the first half by as many as nine points, Tabor rallied to crawl within two points by halftime, 30-28.

A spirited full court press to open the second half led Tabor on a 15-4 run and the game was never in doubt.

Tabor's Stacie Herman followed her 33 point performance against Newman on Tuesday night with 22 points Friday to lead four Bluejays in double figures.

Emily Vogts added 17 points and 10 rebounds and both Erica Hemmert and Sarah Lyons added 12 to the cause.

The Bluejays hit 28 of 61 (45.9 percent) shots from the field including 6 of 20 (30 percent) from beyond the 3-point arc.

The Tabor men were equally successful as they downed Oklahoma Wesleyan 70-56.

Tabor trailed 17-9 with 12:53 to play in the opening half before finishing the half on a 28-11 run to lead 37-28 at halftime.

Tabor stretched its advantage to 18 points at 47-29 before coasting home for the 14 point win.

Matt Nelson led four Bluejays in double figures with 17 points followed by Brad Gattis with 15, Jared Reese had 12 and Tyler Weinbrenner added 10 points and five assists.

Tabor hit 44.4 percent (24-54) from the field including 7 of 18 (38.9 percent) from the 3-point arc.

With the win, Tabor improves to 2-2 for the season.
