Southeast prevails over Hillsboro in battle of the Trojans

Hillsboro's defense plays well against explosive SES, but the offense could not keep pace in a 26-7 loss
Hillsboro ended its football season Thursday night with a 26-7 loss at Southeast of Saline,
The Trojans actually scored first. Lucas Hamm intercepted a Dustin Schropp pass and ran it back about 55 yards to the SES 15-yard line. Four plays later, Michael Suderman scored from six yards out. David Funk's kick made it 7-0 with 11:13 to play in the second quarter.
SES came back with its first score and a 2-point conversion with 5:18 left in the half to take the lead at 8-7. Southeast then scored a second touchdown as time ran out in the half and went to the locker room with a 14-7 advantage.
Southeast scored again on its first possession of the third quarter and then late in the fourth quarter for the 26-7 final.
With the loss Hillsboro finished 4-5 overall and 0-3 in district play. SES is 8-1 and 3-0.
