Leading the Bluejay men was Jeff Anenson and Kyle Larson, who both medaled at Salina. Anenson placed eighth with a time of 29 minutes, 56 seconds, while Larson finished 14th in 30:22.

"Jeff ran an outstanding race today and broke 30 minutes for the first time this season," Hunt said. "He ran with great determination.

"Kyle continues to be our most consistent runner," Hunt added. "He had a good start and continued to move up throughout the race."

Also competing for Tabor were Richard Galli (23rd, 31:17), Matt Lynam (25th, 31:35), Kevin Larson (26th, 31:37), Zac Remboldt (30th, 32:31), Brandon Voth (41st, 33:36) and Will Higerd (44th, 34:11).

"I was really pleased with Richard's performance today," coach Karol Hunt said. "He ran a personal record on a difficult course.

"We've been working on consistency and mental focus and both were there today."

The Tabor men finished with 82 points, just four behind first place Highland Community College.

"The men raced really well," Hunt said. "I'm really pleased with the progress of this group-they were rewarded for their work ethic."

The Tabor women finished only seven points behind first-place Sterling College.

Heidi Schmidt and Bridgette Stevens both medaled. Schmidt placed fifth in 20:48 and Stevens 11th in 21:18.

"After somewhat of a slow start, Heidi was smooth today and she ran her strongest race of the season," Hunt said. "She was not able to run a lot of miles this summer so she's just returning to top form."

Also competing for Tabor were Amber Wiens (22nd, 22:22), Tiffany Stevens (27th, 22:39), Shelby Miller (33rd, 22:52), Ashley Schmidt (35th, 22:59) and Rebekah Lockhart (46th, 23;59).

"Amber showed a lot of character today," Hunt said. "A hip injury is causing a lot of pain and she just gutted it out. Nothing was going to keep her from racing."

Hunt said the day was an excellent opportunity to prepare for the conference meet.

"The women raced well on a pretty tough course," Hunt said. "We're young but are gaining a lot of experience.

"The conference race at the end of the season will be close," she added. "This kind of competition is preparing us well."

Coming- The Bluejays will return to the course this Saturday, October 15, when they travel to Winfield for the NAIA Mid-States Championship hosted by Southwestern College. The women will run at 10:15 and the men at 11:00.
