We're reminded that no ones knows how many days we will live among friends, but make them count.
The unexpected death Saturday of Tabor College freshman Mason Wedel should remind all of us how fragile and precious life is. At this writing, no one knows for sure what happened to cause a young and energetic student-athlete to die in his sleep.
Our hearts go out to his family members, teammates, friends and fellow students as they sift through the myriad emotions of grief to grasp some level of comfort and understanding.
Those of us more distant from the situation would do well to reflect on this abrupt reminder of our own mortality, and renew the oft-heard challenge to live each day on this earth as if it were our last. Someday, sooner or later, it will be. -DR
