Richard Lee Smith, 76, retired foreman at Beech Aircraft, died Sept. 13 at his home in rural Marion.

Funeral services were Sept. 17 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Marion. Interment was in Grant Township Cemetery.

He was born Dec. 2, 1928, to Frank and Ida Faye (Lamb) Smith in Tampa. In 1959, he was married to Lenora Kracke, who survives.

He is also survived by three sons, Mark, Mickey and John, all of Marion; two daughters, Christine Smith of Marion and Jolene Gayle of Florence; a brother, Bob Smith of Hillsboro; a sister, Millie Riffel of Marion; and 10 grandchildren.

Memorial funds have been established with the Marion and Florence public libraries and the Marion Senior Center.

Veona Popp, 79

Veona L. Popp, 79, retired bookkeeper, died Sept. 17 at Parkside Homes in Hillsboro.

The graveside service was Sept. 20 at Durham Park Cemetery. A memorial service followed at Zion Lutheran Church in Hillsboro with pastor Brett Huebner officiating.

She was born Aug. 22, 1926, to William H. and Minnie (Fritsch) Wangerin in Lost Springs.

In 1950 she was married to William B. Popp, who predeceased her in 1993.

She is survived by two nephews, Warren Winters and Norman Winters, both of Hillsboro.

A memorial has been established with Zion Lutheran Church.
