The Marion Warriors finished fourth at the Centre Tournament on Saturday with a 2-3 record.

In pool play, Marion defeated Flint Hills, 25-9, 25-11, and Herington, 25-18, 26-24, before falling to Little River, 14-25, 25-23, 16-25.

In the semifinals of bracket play, the Warriors lost to Council Grove, 25-13, 26-24, and then Hope, 16-25, 27-25, 18-25, in the battle for third.

Toni Gordon was name to the all-tournament team.

Marion's record stands at 6-7 for the season.

Sterling quad-Marion went 2-1 at a quadrangular at Sterling Sept. 6. The Warriors defeated Nickerson and Wichita Collegiate after losing the opening match to Sterling, 12-25, 19-25.

In that match, Erin Richmond was credited with eight assists in 32 attempted sets. Her favorite target was Megan Hudson, who had 13 attack hits resulting in six of the team's 15 kills.

Emalee Versch served 14-for-14, including one of the team's five aces.

Defensively, Kari Tajchman had seven blocks, including two stuffs, while Hudson came up with six digs in 11 attempts.

The Warriors defeated Nickerson, 25-19, 25-18. Hudson led Marion with 13 attacks and six of Marion's 15 kills.

Richmond had eight assists in 32 set opportunities.

Versch completed 13 of 14 serves with one of the team's five aces.

On defense, Tajchman had seven blocks, including two stuffs, while Hudson was good on six of 11 digs.

The match against Collegiate may have been the most competitive, but the Warriors eventually prevailed, 22-25, 25-19, 25-19.

Richmond recorded eight assists in 30 sets while Erin Carr had six kills in 20 attacks.

Marion also recorded 14 service aces led by Versch with five. Toni Gordon registered three aces.

Gordon also led Marion with 10 blocks, including four stuffs, while Richmond and Versch had seven and six digs, respectively, of Marion's total of 28.
