Dale Bair, 68

Dale L. Bair, 68, farmer and rancher, died Aug. 9 in rural Canton.

The service was Saturday, Aug. 13, at Canton Christian Church. Pastor Jack Smith officiated. Burial was at Canton Township Cemetery.

He was born Jan. 13, 1937, to Clarence "Pat" and Lela G. Bruce Bair. In 1998 he was married to DeAnna McCormick Vogts, who survives.

He is also survived by a son, Dwight D. Bair of Hutchinson; a stepson, Scott Vogts of Hutchinson; a stepdaughter, Sarah Vogts of McPherson; a sister, Elizabeth L. "Bette" Wasserman of El Reno, Okla.; four grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.

A memorial has been established with Canton Christian Church.

Arnold Banman, 87

Arnold F. Banman, 87, retired Ford Motor Company employee, died Aug. 9 at Liberty Hospital in Liberty, Mo.

The service was Aug. 13 at the Church-Archer-Pasley Funeral Home in Liberty. Burial was at New Hope Cemetery in Liberty.

He was born Aug. 4, 1918, to Frank W. and Mary Banman in Marion County. He was married to Doris Banman, who predeceased him.

He is survived by a daughter, Teresa and husband David Pelky of Liberty; a son, Leo and wife Judy Taylor of Independence, Mo.; two sisters, Hulda Thiessen and Wanda Salvatierra, both of Hutchinson; a brother, Marvin Banman of Hillsboro; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Asher Boese, infant

Asher Dallas Boese, infant, died at birth Aug. 5 at Newton Medical Center.

The service was Thursday, Aug. 11, at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church in Goessel. Burial was at Wedel Cemetery in rural Goessel.

He is survived by his parents, Dallas and Michelle (Rauh) Boese of Goessel; and three sisters, Sierah Pennington, Brittany Pennington and Raechel Boese, all of Goessel.

He is preceded in death by a brother, Parker Pennington.

A memorial has been established with Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church Nursery.

Roselie Epp, 84

Roselie R. Epp, 84, retired co-owner of A & R Cabinet Shop, died Aug. 12 at Hutchinson Hospital.

The service was Tuesday, Aug. 16, at Buhler Mennonite Brethren Church. Pastor Nick Rempel officiated. Burial is at Buhler Municipal Cemetery.

She was born July 24, 1921, to Peter D. and Mary M. Braun Wiens in Inola, Okla. In 1943 she was married to Abe J. Epp, who predeceased her in 1996.

She is survived by a son, Paul Epp of Hillsboro; a daughter, Rosemary Balzer of Buhler; three sisters, Linda Will of Oklahoma City, Okla., Lillie McDowell of Norman, Okla., and Viola Heinrichs of Valley Center; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial has been established with Buhler Mennonite Brethren Church Library.

Bob Shanklin, 67

Robert L. Shanklin, 67, retired railroad equipment operator and fire chief, died Aug. 4 in Florence.

The service was Aug. 9 at Zeiner Funeral Home in Florence. Pastor Steve Hysom officiated. Burial was at Hillcrest Cemetery in Florence.

He was born July 20, 1938, to Claude and Zelda Nicholson Shanklin. In 1958 he was married to Janis Rosiere, who survives.

He is also survived by a son, Craig of Newton; a daughter, Jodi Rexroat of Newton; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.

A memorial has been established with Marion County Home Services.

Henry Sprowls, 84

Henry Allen Sprowls, 84, U.S. Marine Corp veteran and retired officer manager for Wichita Frozen Foods, died Aug. 15 at St. Luke Hospital in Marion.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Aug. 17, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, at Zeiner Funeral at 205 Elm in Marion where Pastor Carl Helm will officiate. A committal service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Resthaven Gardens of Memory in Wichita.

He was born June 26, 1921, to Alic and Ada Lane Sprowls at Cushing, Okla. On Feb. 1, 1948, he was married to Betty Repenhagen, who survives.

He is also survived by a son, Bob and wife Kathy of McPherson, a daughter, Roberta Young; a sister, Gladys Miller of Humansville, Mo.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Ella Winter, 90

Ella Winter, 90, retired school lunch program and nursing home employee, died Aug. 8 in Marion.

The service was Thursday, Aug. 11, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Marion. Pastor Brett Huebner officiated. Burial was at Marion Cemetery.

She was born March 23, 1915, to Herman Ebel and Caroline Reiswig. In 1938 was married to Ruben Winter, who predeceased her in 1972.

She is survived by two sons, Earl and wife Joan Winter of Marion and Victor Winter of Allen; a daughter, Kathy and husband Terry Silhan of Pilsen; a brother, Otto Ebel of Paradise, Calif.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials have been established with Our Savior Lutheran Church and Marion Senior Center.
