Stephanie Ann Douthit and Russell Scott Thomas, both of Durham, N.C., were married June 1 in a small, intimate ceremony at the villa Borgo Iesolana in the Tuscany region of Italy.
The bride is the daughter of Rudy and Patricia Douthit of Berthoud, Colo.
She is a graduate of Berthoud High School and received a bachelor's degree from the University of Colorado. She completed her doctorate in microbiology at Montana State University and is a post-doctoral fellow at University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
Her husband is the son of James and Betty Thomas of Hillsboro.
He is a graduate of Hillsboro High School and received a bachelor's degree from Tabor College. He completed his doctorate in toxicology from Colorado State University. He currently is senior scientist at the Centers for Health Research (CIIT) in Durham.
