Jirak, Gear exchange vows June 11 Jirak, Gear exchange vows June 11

Maria Jirak of Tampa and Travis Gear of Wichita were married in a double-ring afternoon ceremony June 11 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Pilsen with pastor John Jirak, brother of the bride, as main celebrant.

Fathers Steve Gronert, Eric Weldon, Patrick York, David Marstall, Andrew Heiman, Bernard Gorges and Jarrod Lies served as concelebrants.

Parents of the couple are Francis and Mary Jirak of Tampa and David and Michelle Gear of Wichita.

Musicians included vocalists Carolyn Pirtle of Wichita; Heidi Jirak of Oakley; Susie, Janie, Cecilia and Julie Rziha, all of Tampa; the St. John Nepomucene Church Choir; and organist Tom Nelson of Burdick.

Maid of honor was Kristine Jirak of Tampa, and bridesmaids were Teresa Jirak and Sandra Jirak, both of Goddard; Raschelle Jirak of Ramona and Andrea Green of Wichita.

Best man was Matthew Gear of Naples, Fla., and groomsmen were Albert Jirak and James Jirak, both of Goddard; Noah Gear of Wichita and Chris Jaax of Wichita.

Flower girls was Monica Jirak and Dominic Jirak, both of Goddard.

The bride wore a white hand-beaded re-embroidered lace embellished gown featuring a scoop-neck bodice with short sleeves, a tulle-over-satin full skirt with a tiered split front and chapel train, and a fingertip veil with rhinestone and beaded tiara.

She carried a cascading bouquet of white roses, peonies and trumpet lilies.

Guestbook attendants were Judy Seiler and Jane Gorges, both of Colwich.

Ushers included Andy Gorges, Krister Johnson, Dan Berry and Brent Depperschmidt, all of Wichita; Matthew Beaven and Paul Johnson, both of Kansas City.

Kalynn Jirak of Atchison, Stephanie Quaney of Colwich and Emma Rose Jirak of Oakley were in charge of gifts and programs.

The wedding reception was held at the Pilsen Community Center. The cake was decorated by the mother of the bride.

Reception attendants included Becky Dugan, Wichita; Donna Quaney and Lisa Quaney, both of Colwich; and Denice Bina of Marion.

The bride graduated from Centre High School in 2002, attended Kansas State University and graduated from Xenon's School of Cosmetology & Hair Design in 2004. She is employed at Beauty First in Wichita.

The groom graduated from Bishop Carroll High School in 2001 and from KSU with a bachelor of history degree in 2005. He works as a youth minister at Holy Name Catholic Church & School in Winfield.

Following a honeymoon in Colorado, Wyoming and Montana, the couple resides in Winfield.
