Louis Timmerman "Tim" Bowring, 68, retired Army helicopter pilot and marketing executive, died July 9.
Memorial services were held July 14 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Lenexa.
He was born Jan. 10, 1937, to Louis Davis Bowring and Dorothy Ruth Timmerman in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was married for 52 years to Annette Bowring, who survives.
He is also survived by two sons, Kevin Bowring of Needham, Mass., and Kris Bowring of Bloomington, Minn.; four daughters, Kim Jarett and Kathryn Baker, both of Overland Park, Kara Wedow of Dallas, Texas, and Katina Gnidziejko of Overland Park; a brother, Dennis Hansen of Ephraim, Utah; two sisters, Karen Anderson of Salt Lake City and Linda Edminster of Bountiful, Utah; and 10 grandchildren.
Memorials have been established with the Alzheimer's Association in Prairie Village and NorthCare Hospice in Kansas City, Mo.
Patricia Koch, 65
Patricia Ann Koch, 65, nursing home kitchen employee, died July 11 in Marion.
The service was Friday at Peabody Christian Church. Pastor Jim Pohlman officiated. Interment was at Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Peabody.
She was born March 17, 1940, to Everett Brooks and Pearl Friday in Newton.
She is survived by two sons, Gary Koch of California and Larry Koch of Canton; two daughters, Marcy Hill of Framingham, Mass., and Sherry Boese of Goessel; two brothers, Everett Brooks and Wesley Brooks, both of Peabody; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A memorial has been established with Bethesda Home in Goessel.
Verna Lewerenz, 94
Verna B. Lewerenz, 94, retired postal clerk and homemaker, died July 11 in Merriam.
The service was July 14 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lincolnville. Pastor Alan Stahlecker officiated. Burial was at Lincolnville Cemetery.
She was born June 10, 1911, to Otto and Katharina Emilie Fenske in Lincolnville. In 1932 she was married to Erwin Mike Lewerenz, who predeceased her.
She is survived by a daughter, Gloria Garrelts of Lenexa; a brother, Wesley Fenske of Lost Springs; a sister, Aileen Shields of Wichita; two sisters-in-law, Gladys Fenske of Marion and Violet Miller of Wyoming; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with St. John's Lutheran Church.
Jack Regnier, 74
Jack E. Regnier, 74, business owner and salesman at Marion Auto Parts, died July 12 at Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita.
The service was Saturday morning at Eastmoor United Methodist Church in Marion. Pastors John Goering, Rick Branson and Gerry Sharp officiated. Burial was at Marion Cemetery.
He was born Aug. 12, 1930, to Donald and Orris (Kocher) Regnier in Concordia. In 1950 he was married to Marge Johnson, who survives in Marion.
He is also survived by two sons, Mike Regnier and Doug Regnier, both of Marion; two daughters, Pat Boggs of Winfield and Kathy VanZant of Braman, Okla.; one brother, Warren Regnier of Concordia; four sisters, Willadean Thoman of Kansas City, Joan Rose of Lurey, Thelma Locke of Apolla Beach, Fla., and Donna Poss of Inverness, Fla.; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorials have been established with Eastmoor United Methodist Church, St. Luke Hospital and Liberty Park in Marion.
Elmer Sawatzky, 88
Elmer Ellard Sawatzky, 88, retired bookseller, died July 3 in Federal Way, Wash.
Memorial services were held in Lynnwood, Wash. Interment followed at Floral Hills Cemetery in Lynnwood.
He was born March 25, 1917, to George and Minnie (Klein) Sawatzky in Herbert, Saskatchewan. He was married for 58 years to Erna Ruth (Harder) Sawatzky, who survives.
He is also survived by three sons, Michael, Steven and Gregory; a daughter, Nancy; a brother, Clarence; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
