Glenda Allen, 66

Glenda Allen, 66, switchboard operator and homemaker, died June 23 at Newton Medical Center.

The service was Tuesday afternoon at Florence Christian Church. Pastor Peter Banning officiated.

She was born Nov. 28, 1938, to Clarence Glenn and Virginia Lee Reece Pickens in Wichita. In 1975 she was married to Silas Allen, who survives in Florence.

She is also survived by one daughter, Brenda Andrews of Newton; one stepson, Mark Allen of Dunbar, W.V.; two stepdaughters, Marsha Sims of Salina and Kathy Mann of St. Cloud, Fla.; two brothers, Dennis Pickens of Peabody and Randy Pickens of Wichita; two sisters, Donna Brown of Claremore, Okla., and LaEsta Hanes of Newton; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial has been established with Florence Christian Church.

JoAnn Hicks, 52

JoAnn R. Hicks, 52, licensed practical nurse at Hillsboro Community Medical Center, died June 23 at Newton Medical Center.

The memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 2, at Hillsboro Memorial Park, with pastor Larry King of Good News Christian Fellowship Church in Marion and Highside, chaplain of the Sons of Silence, officiating.

She was born Oct. 30, 1952, to Albert and Jeri Klose in Marion. In 1971 she was married to Earl Hicks, who survives in Marion.

She is also survived by two daughters, Crystal Hicks and Sunshine Hicks, both of Marion; one stepdaughter, Abby McIntosh of Hillsboro; one stepson, Justin McIntosh of Hillsboro; her parents, Albert and Jeri Klose of Hillsboro; and one grandchild.

Memorials have been established with Hillsboro Community Medical Center Long Term Care Unit and Center for Basic Cancer Research, Kansas State University.

Helma Kroeker, 71

Helma Kroeker, 71, died June 20 in Hillsboro.

The service was Thursday afternoon at Trinity Mennonite Church in Hillsboro. Pastor Bruce Porter officiated. Burial was at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Cemetery.

She was born June 26, 1933, to Martin A. and Helen Epp Kroeker in Marion, S.D.

She is survived by three brothers, Werner Kroeker of Clovis, Calif., Alvin Kroeker of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Orlando Kroeker of Shawnee; and four sisters, Mary Loewen, Martha Fast and Elvira Plett, all of Hillsboro, and Hilda Kroeker of Mission.

A memorial has been established with Parkside Homes.

Lucille McLinden, 93

Lucille C. McLinden, 93, retired bank employee, died June 25 in Denver, Colo.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 1, at Hillcrest Cemetery in Florence.

She was born Dec. 8, 1911, to John and Katherine McLinden in Cedar Point.

She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Norma McPhail of Strong City and Roseva McLinden of Marion; and many nieces and nephews.

Jeanette McMinn, 64

Jeanette McMinn, 64, homemaker, died June 21 in Hillsboro.

The graveside service was Wednesday morning at Haven of Rest cemetery in rural Hillsboro. Pastor Nadine Friesen officiated.

She was born June 16, 1941, to Huldrich and Sharah Jane Remple Nickel in Hillsboro.

She is survived by a daughter, Barbara McMinn of Hillsboro; and three brothers, Robert Nickel of Amarillo, Gerald Nickel of Olathe, and Clifford Nickel of Lehigh.

A memorial has been established with First Mennonite Church.

Hazel Stenzel, 95

Hazel Glendine Stenzel, 95, died June 19 in Springfield, Mo.

The service was Saturday morning at the Marion Cemetery.

She was born Aug. 1, 1909, to Isaac W. and Halcie E. Hawbecker in Marion County. In 1932 she was married to Milton R. Stenzel, who predeceased her in 1978.

She is survived by three daughters, Donna Seifert of McPherson, Neva and Arlen Winsky of Springfield and Naomi and Howard Babb of Wichita; one sister, Leona Morgan of Topeka; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

A memorial has been established with Community Hospice of America in Springfield.
