Hillsboro United Methodist Church will have a new pastor, beginning July 24.
Nancy Lambing brings 22 years of experience as a United Methodist pastor in Kansas and is the pastor at the Halstead United Methodist Church.
Lambing was born in Wichita but spent her first two years of school in Illinois before moving to California, where she graduated from high school in Sacramento.
From there, Lambing returned to Kansas to attend Southwestern College in Winfield and graduated with degrees in religion and home economics in 1979.
In 1983 she became the pastor of the United Methodist Church in Potwin. The next year she entered seminary at Phillips Theological Graduate School in Enid, Okla., and graduated in 1987.
Lambing was the interim chaplain at Southwestern College for a year and has been active in the Kansas West Conference as vice chair of the Conference Council on Finance and Administration.
Lambing has two children, ages 18 and 16. She will succeed R. Laney Kuhn, who will be moving to Haysville.
Zion, Our Savior to install pastor June 12
Brett Huebner will be ordained into the pastoral ministry and installed June 12 as pastor of the Zion Lutheran Church in Hillsboro and Our Savior Lutheran Church in Marion.
Huebner is a native of Falls City, Neb., and graduated from Falls City High School in 1992.
He earned a degree in behavioral science from Concordia College in Seward, Neb., in 1995 and followed that with a master of divinity degree from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis in 1999.
Huebner is pursuing a doctorate in historical theology at Saint Louis University. He did his seminary field work at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waterloo, Ill., and did his internship at a Lutheran church in Rapid City, S.D.
Huebner and wife Janna have a 1-year-old son, Kellan, and plan to move to Hillsboro June 4.
This will be his first pastorate.
Guis talks on Mexico at friendship supper
King's Daughters of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Marion held their annual Friendship Salad Supper May 24 in the fellowship hall.
The decorating committee decorated tables with a Mexican theme. Marilyn Guis of Marion spoke about her recent mission trip to Mexico.
The June meeting will be a White Cross work night.
No community band
to form this summer
Due to scheduling conflicts, no community band will be formed this summer, said Hillsboro High School band director Greg Walker.
The band will resume next summer.

Celebration for Martha Peters' 80th
The children of Martha Peters of Goessel invite the public to attend a celebration of her 80th birthday Saturday, June 4.
The event will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Agape Senior Center in Goessel.
Fr. Emil Kapaun Day June 5 at Pilsen
The third annual Fr. Emil Kapaun Day will be held Sunday, June 5, at St. John Nepomucene Church in Pilsen.
Mass begins at 3 p.m., followed by a program and the dedication of the Father Kapaun Room. Supper is at 5:30 p.m.
All are invited to bring a non-perishable food item to be donated to the Lord's Diner in Chaplain Kapaun's name.
Benefit dinner June 3 at Parkview Church
The public is invited to attend a grilled smoked pork chop benefit dinner at 5 p.m. Friday, June 3, in the Parkview Church Activity Center, 610 S. Main, east entrance.
The cost will be a donation to the Dale Winter Medical Fund.
