Marion High School was well represented at the Class 3A state forensics competitions earlier this month.

In the "Festival" competition, Nicole Nelson received a 'I' rating for her serious solo, Lee Ownsbey and Isaac Guetersloh received a 'I' in improvised duet acting, Anda Malescu received a 'I' in prose, Laura Holt received a 'II' in prose and Sasha Mikheyeva competed in extemporaneous speaking.

At the "Champs" competition in forensics, Trevor Jones placed fourth in solo serious, Mike Brookens placed fourth in poetry, Rachel Davidson made it to the semifinals in oration.

Making to the semifinals in improvised duet acting were Elisa Gayle and Jordan Timm, Brett Billings and T.C. Edwards and Chelsea Arnhold and Tedra Eis.

Also competing for Marion were: Arnhold and Derek Vetter, solo humorous; Timm and Gayle, duet acting; Brookens and Jones, duet acting; Misti Richmond, poetry; Rose Taylor, poetry; Jenna Parli, poetry; Michele Miesse, prose; Billings, prose; and Luke Bowers and Vetter, improvised duet acting.

As a team, Marion placed sixth out of 44 schools.

MHS students also received Jester Awards May 28 from judges of the Music Theater of Wichita for their work in MHS school productions.

Honored were: Chelsea Arnhold, outstanding leading female performer; Michael Brookens, outstanding supporting male performer; Jordan Timm, outstanding cameo performance; outstanding chorus; Kevin Moler, outstanding musical director; Janet Killough, outstanding direction.
