Milford C. Franz, 89, farmer and factory worker, died May 6 at Bethesda Home in Goessel.
The service is at 10:30 a.m. today, May 11, at the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church near Goessel, with pastors Mark Wiens and Walter Friesen officiating. Burial will be at Alexanderwohl Cemetery.
He was born Jan. 8, 1916, to John P. and Maria Unrau Franz in McPherson County. In 1947, he was married to Velma Unruh, who survives in Goessel.
He is also survived by two sisters, Irma Dahl of Hillsboro and Linda Williams of Newton.
Memorials have been established with Bethesda Home and Mennonite Central Committee.
Mabel Klassen, 87
Mabel E. Brumm Klassen, 87, homemaker and retired printer, died May 6 at Parkside Homes in Hillsboro.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 16, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Junction City, with pastor Timothy Schellenbach officiating.
She was born Nov. 12, 1917, to Arthur and Josie Miles Johnston in rural Geary County. In 1937, she was married to Harold Brumm, who predeceased her in 1994. In 1999, she married Elwyn Klassen, who predeceased her in 2001.
She is survived by one daughter, Shirley Brumm Minns of Hillsboro; one sister, Mary Jones of Wichita; two brothers, John and Norma Johnston of Rogers, Ark., and Albert Johnston of Coos Bay, Ore.; two sisters-in-law, Doris Brumm of Junction City and Donna Brumm of Lehigh; one grandson, Kevin Blackwell Sr. of Canton; and one great-grandson, Kevin Blackwell Jr. of McPherson.
A memorial has been established with St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Junction City.
Danelda Klein, 73
Danelda Ardell Klein, 73, homemaker, died May 4 in Valley Center.
A service was held Saturday morning at Tabor Historic Church in Hillsboro. Pastors Dave Plett of Hillsboro and Ernie Friesen of Wichita officiated. Burial was at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Cemetery. A memorial service was held Saturday afternoon at First Mennonite Brethren Church in Wichita.
She was born April 24, 1932, to Peter and Marie Thiessen Goertzen in Clyde, N.D. In 1951, she was married to Clayton Klein, who predeceased her in 1997.
She is survived by five sons, Timothy Allan of Dinube, Calif., Terry Dean of Wichita, Thomas Clayton of Valley Center, Todd James of Hillsboro and Tracy Ray of Bel Aire; four daughters, Rhoda Lynn Toews of Reedley, Calif., DeVona Kay Roble of Hillsboro, Connie Faye Suderman of Hillsboro and Amy Elizabeth Klein of McPherson; one brother, Eugene Goertzen of Seattle, Wash.; two sisters, Blanche Henefeld of Ft. Mayers, Fla. and Delores Loewen of Joseph Ore.; and 25 grandchildren.
The Danelda Klein Memorial Fund has been established.
Eugene Litton, 79
Eugene L. Litton, 79, hog farmer and land farmer, died May 1 at VA Medical Center in Wichita.
The service was held May 5 at Baker Funeral Home in Peabody. Paster Roger Charles of Peabody Baptist Church officiated. Burial was at Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Peabody.
He was born Dec. 10, 1925, to William W. Litton and Louise E. Rivenburg in Peabody.
He is survived by one brother, Richard R. Litton of Peabody; nine nephews and nieces and 18 great-nephews and great-nieces.
A memorial has been established with "The Avenue of Flags" of American Legion Post No. 95 in Peabody.
Jack Robinson, 80
Jack Robinson, 80, retired correspondent, reporter, editor and professor, died April 29 in North Newton.
A service was held May 3 at Kansas Veterans Cemetery of Winfield. Chaplain Rob of Faith Hospice & Home Health of Wichita officiated. Interment was at Soldier's Cemetery in Winfield.
He was born July 17, 1924, to Earl and Merle (Simpson) Robinson in Arkansas City. In 1966, he was married to Norma, who survives in North Newton.
He is also survived by one son, Monte Charles Robinson of Wichita; three stepsons, Jay Snyder of Coconut Creek, Colo., Tom Snyder of Loveland, Colo., and Dick Snyder of Bentonville, Ark.; two daughters, Melissa Diane Matherly and Michele Ann Evans, both of Basalt, Colo.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with Faith Hospice & Home Health of Wichita.
Wayne Schroeder, 74
Wayne A. Schroeder, 74, barber and apartment maintenance manager, died May 8 at Schowalter Villa in Hesston.
The service was Tuesday at the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church near Goessel. Pastor Mark Wiens officiated. Burial was at Alexanderwohl Cemetery.
He was born June 20, 1930, to Arthur and Mary Unruh Schroeder in Newton. In 1959, he was married to Joan Klassen, who predeceased him.
He is survived by one son, Thomas Byard of Topeka; two daughters, Jenny L. Crow of Emporia and Joyce Schroeder Peirce of Massachusetts; one sister, Irna Reynolds of Peachtree City, Ga.; and four grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the Schowalter Villa Good Samaritan Fund.
