Bezdek, Widener wed in Abilene

Toshia Michelle Bezdek and Joseph Paul Widener were married Oct. 16 at First Christian Church in Abilene. A dinner and dance reception followed at the Elks Club.

The bride is the daughter of Ron and Michelle Bezdek of Abilene. The groom is the son of Junior and Clydene Widener of Brewster.

The wedding had an autumn theme. The bride wore a chapel-length gown designed by Maggie Sottero and held a bouquet with autumn shades of roses designed by the Flower Box in Abilene. The groom wore a black tuxedo designed by Andrew Fezza.

The matron of honor was Julie Mohn of Abilene, cousin of the bride; the bridesmaid was Sarah Richardson of Hays.

The best man was Philip Widener of Hays, brother of the groom; the groomsman was Chad Widener of Wichita, cousin of the groom.

The bride is a third-grade teacher in Kansas City, Mo., and the groom is employed at International Code Council in Lenexa.

Following their honeymoon, the couple returned to their home in Lenexa.

Hett, Marsh marry Nov. 27

Julie Michelle Hett and Tyler Broek Marsh were married Nov. 27 at Trinity Mennonite Church in Hillsboro with pastor Gaylord Goertzen officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Alvin and Arlene Hett and granddaughter of Harvey and Lillian Peters and Wilbur and Florence Hett, all of Hillsboro.

The groom is the son of David and Cheryl Marsh of Hillsboro and grandson of Julie Broekemeier of Central City, Neb.

The bride wore a white, silk crepe bias gown with v-front and back and carried a bouquet of magnolia leaves and miniature calla lilies in dark purple, deep red and burnt orange.

The matron of honor was Suzanne Siemens, sister of the bride. The bridesmaids were Audrey Hodgson, sister of the bride, and Jenny McKnight, friend of the bride. Flowergirl was Dara Hodgson, niece of the bride.

The best man was Brady Marsh, brother of the groom; the groomsmen were Caleb Marsh, brother of the groom, and Jason Phelps, friend of the groom.

Ushers were Cameron Conant, Gatz Graf, J.D. Senkbile and Russ Francl, friends of the groom. Kay Broekemeier, cousin of the groom, was gift carrier. Guestbook attendants were Hannah Marsh, sister of the groom, and Rachel Kobza, friend of the bride.

Musicians were Caleb and Arika Mason, friends of the couple.

The couple's parents hosted a reception followed the ceremony at Trinity Mennonite Church.

Reception assistants were Hilary Stutzman, Erin Loewen, Nancy Kaufman and Barb Unruh.

The bride is a graduate of Hillsboro High School and will graduate in May from Tabor College with a degree in biology.

The groom graduated from Elk City High School in Oklahoma and from Tabor College in 2003 with a degree in business administration. He is employed at Jantz Construction.

The couple resides in Hillsboro.
