Dean Williams, 70

Dean I. Williams, 70, farmer and road grader operator, died March 11 at Hillsboro Community Hospital.

Funeral services were Tuesday morning at Aulne United Methodist Church in Marion, with the Rev. Bill Dyer officiating. Burial was in Marion cemetery.

He was born Nov. 24, 1934, to Irvin Williams and Elsie Hett Williams Winkley on a farm southwest of Marion.

In 1959, he married Wanda Thode, who survives.

He is also survived by two sons, Doug Williams and Jeff Williams, both of Marion; one daughter, Kay Stika of Goessel; one brother, Jack Williams of Marion; two sisters, Donna Fruechting of Salina and Jeanette Clark of Louisberg; one brother-in-law Max Thode on Dennison, Texas; and nine grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established with Aulne United Methodist Church.

Edwin Funk, 90

Edwin R. Funk, 90, farmer, died March 13 in Hillsboro.

Visitation is today, March 16, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Jost Funeral Home. The service will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 17, at Trinity Mennonite Church in Hillsboro, with Tim Kliewer officiating.

He was born April 12, 1914, to Gerhard W. and Elizabeth Rempel Funk in rural Marion County. In 1935, he married Elma Jantz, who survives.

He is also survived by three sons, Virgil Funk of Topeka, Loren Funk of Hillsboro and Gordon Funk of Wichita; one daughter, Violet Dalke of Hillsboro; one sister, Elizabeth Schmidt of Newton; one sister-in-law, Gladys Jantz of Hillsboro; nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
