Good things are happening here. We have people committed to keeping Hillsboro on the grow.
You can't work on a publication like our "state of the city" Annual Report (which you should find inserted in this issue) without having a renewed enthusiasm for the future of Hillsboro. At almost every turn are bright, committed, determined people at work for the good of this community. Not every idea and plan comes to fruition, and those that do seem to grow slowly sometimes. But we sense a real positive determination to keep moving forward.
You'll find a few naysayers anywhere, and we have some living among us here. But the overall tone is upbeat, hopeful and open to new possibilities.
The race to stay at least one step ahead of decline in rural areas such as ours grows increasingly competitive. It's tempting sometimes to pull off to the side and rest. But communities that will still be strong 10, 20, 30 years from now need people committed to the long haul. Let's keep moving forward to the healthy future we envision. -DR
