Amid sloppy conditions on Saturday the Tabor College men’s and women’s track and field squads traveled to McPherson and claimed second and third places, respectively.

Schmidt claimed first in the preliminary race and finished second in the final with a wind-adjusted time of 12.92 seconds.

Batista finished in 13.42, and fifth in the final after a 13.03 sprint in the first heat.

Batista also claimed second in the 200-meter dash with a wind-adjusted time of 28.49.

Heidi Schmidt (2:30.09) and Aftan Lambert (2:31.29) both scored points for Tabor by finishing fifth and sixth, respectively.

Heidi Schmidt also finished second in the 1500-meter run, completing the race in 5:17.25.

Sarah Fogle finished fourth in the 5000-meter event, finishing in 19:57.45.

The runners teamed up to take second in both the 4x100 and 4x400 relays.

On the men’s side, Hector Laboy ran the 100 in 10.97 seconds and grabbed third place.

Andy Bartel ran the 200 in 23.22 and took third, and Jeff Anenson ran the 400 in 51.54.

Nathaniel Porter ran the 110-meter hurdles racein 16.96 in the preliminary and 17.15 in the final.

Porter took second in the 400-meter hurdles with a 57.07 finish.

Zac Remboltd ran the 3000-meter steeplechase in 10:44.70 and finished third in the event.

The Tabor men’s 4x100 relay team won the event in 43.69, with the 4x800 team (8:46.79) taking second and the 4x400 (3:36.36) team claiming fifth in their respective events.

Aaron Jenkins logged a long jump of 21 feet, 2 1/4 inches and won the event.

Matt Dean came in fourth in the long jump by leaping 19 feet, 8 1/4 inches.

Jenkins, Garrett Bryant and Dean took third, fourth and fifth in the triple jump.

Brent Wichert threw the discus 43.61 meters to round out the scoring on the men’s team.

Coming—The teams will head to Wichita for the Friends University meet on April 7.
