Virginia M. Batt, 85

Virginia M. Batt, 85, of McPherson, homemaker and former school teacher, died Jan. 8 at The Cedars in McPherson.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 12, at First Baptist Church of McPherson with pastor Les Cantrell officiating. Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Marion Cemetery.
She was born Oct. 4, 1919, to Abraham Hiebert and Eva (Schroeder) Dyck in McPherson. On Aug. 10, 1939, she was married to C. Herbert Batt, who predeceased her in 1984.
She is survived by one daughter, Ann Howard of Florence, one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials have been established with First Baptist Church and Tabor College in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home of McPherson.

Ted Landis, 71

Ted Landis, 71, of Marion, owner/operator of a shoe store, died Jan. 7 in Wichita.
The funeral was Jan. 10 at Zeiner Funeral Home in Marion.
He was born Feb. 6, 1933, to Lester and Elizabeth (Lavin) Landis in Wichita. On April 15, 1966, he was married to June Williams, who survives.
He is also survived by three sons, Kevin Landis of Wichita, Cal Adams of Denton, Texas, and David Emmrich of Wichita; four daughters, Kathy Landis of Jet, Okla., Candy Smith of Marion, Holly Doherty of Wichita and Karen Schimmells of Las Vegas; one brother, Tim Landis of Wichita; one sister, Carol Stewart of Adrian, Mich.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the Wichita Women's Crisis Center in care of Zeiner Funeral Home of Marion.

Carlos T. Saenz Sr., 84

Carlos T. Saenz Sr., 84, of Peabody, machine operator/laborer for the Santa Fe Railroad, died Jan. 9 at Legacy Park in Peabody.
The funeral Mass will be at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 14, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Florence with Father Stephen Gronert officiating. Burial will be at Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Peabody.
He was born July 5, 1920, to Gregorio and Emeteria (Nunoz) Saenz in El Paso, Texas. On Oct. 30, 1941, he was married to Sarah Rodrigues, who survives.
He is also survived by two sons, Carlos T. Saenz Jr. of Halstead and Fred M. Saenz of Peabody; one daughter, Frances I. Martinez of Peabody; two sisters, Marianne Llamas and Jennie Rodriguez; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorials have been established with the Peabody Elementary Playground Fund and the American Legion Post 95 Avenue of Flags.

M. Zimmerman, 99

Mollie Zimmerman, 99, of Hillsboro, homemaker, died Jan. 7 at Hillsboro Community Medical Center Long Term Care Unit.
The funeral was Jan. 11 at First Baptist Church of Durham with pastor Curtis Wiens officiating. Burial was at Haven of Rest Cemetery in Hillsboro.
She was born Jan. 7, 1906, to John and Catherine (Schneider) Lohrey in Kutter, Russia. On April 11, 1943, she was married to Adam Zimmerman, who predeceased her in 1995.
She is survived by one niece, Lois Nuss of Hillsboro.
A memorial has been established with First Baptist Church.
