Bluejays improve overall record to 8-6 Tabor College made it two in a row Saturday night with an impressive 88-73 win over the Central Methodist Eagles in Hillsboro.

Tabor came out strong and built a 24-10 lead midway through the first 20 mintues only to see Central Methodist rally and cut the lead to 36-34 at halftime.

The Eagles continued their run in the second stanza and took a 50-44 lead with 16:27 to play before the Bluejays got their act together.

Trailing 60-58 at the 11:12 mark, Tabor went on a 12-0 run spurred by the passing of Jason Dechant and inside play of Martin deBoer and Brad Gattis to take a 70-60 lead with 7:08 to play and Tabor cruised home from there, eventually settling for the 15 point win.

Tabor was led by deBoer with 20 points while Gattis added 16, Andy Brubacher had 14 and Pat Miller chipped in 10 as Tabor connected on 58 percent of its field goal attempts in the second half and 51.6 percent for the game.

Tabor won the rebounding battle 40-34 lead by de Boer with seven.

With the win, Tabor improves to 8-6 overall heading into KCAC action this Thursday night at North Newton against the Bethel Threshers. Tabor sits at 2-2 in conference action.

The 23rd ranked Tabor women, currently tied for first place in the KCAC with a 3-1 record and 9-4 overall, also play at Bethel on Thursday night with game time set for 6:00 p.m.
