Tabor women lose 62-60, men fall 74-68 to Southwestern The Tabor College women's basketball team traveled to Winfield Thursday night and fell to the host Moundbuilders 62-60.

Tabor had trouble getting untracked, falling behind 10-0 before scoring its first conference points with nearly seven minutes gone in the game.

Still, Tabor came back to grab a 22-19 halftime lead.

Early in the second stanza, Tabor increased its lead to eight points at 27-19 before Southwestern rallied to tie the game at 31 all. From there the contest was knotted 10 times before being tied at 60 apiece with 30 seconds remaining and Southwestern in possession.

The Moundbuilders ran the clock down and went to Whitney Corley, their All-KCAC forward for the last shot, and Corley delivered a 12-foot contested jumper with just two second remaining for the Moundbuilder win. Corley finished as the game's high scorer with 20 points.

For Tabor, freshman Katie Fast came off the bench to lead the Bluejays with 17 points, followed by Erica Hemmert with 15 and Stacie Herman who scored 14.

With the loss, the Bluejay women fall to 5-4 overall and 0-1 in KCAC play.

The Tabor men played an inspired first half, backed by 56 percent shooting to take a 40-34 lead at halftime.

Tabor increased the margin to 61-51 with under nine minutes remaining, but poor offensive execution and a pourous defense down the stretch contributed to a 23-7 game ending run by Southwestern for the Moundbuilder's 74-68 win.

Tabor was led by Brad Gattis with 17, Grant Brubacher with 15 and Anthony Monson who scored 12.

With the loss, Tabor falls to 4-4 for the season and 0-1 in KCAC play.
