The fifth-annual "Christmas Home Tour," sponsored by Marion City Library, will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 28, in Marion.

Opening their homes for the tour are the following:

n Todd and Vicki Guetersloh, 115 N. 4th, 620-382-2729.

The Guetersloh three-story home was built in 1904 and celebrates its 100th anniversary this year. All three floors will be open for the tour and festively decorated for the holidays.

The couple have undertaken extensive remodeling and restoration on the dwelling and still continue to work on their home.

Vicki and her mother have painted many of the rooms with stenciling on the walls, floors, headboards and furniture. A servants' staircase to the kitchen is hand painted to simulate a faux rug running down the center of each tread.

An arrangement of Santa Claus figures will greet visitors as they walk through the entry.

The home will feature many of Vicki's handmade decorations as well as decorations purchased at garage sales or second-hand stores.

A handmade Precious Moments nativity scene, made by Vicki's mother, will be on display on an old upright antique piano dating back to the 1930s; Christmas trees will be adorned with snowmen and traditional family ornaments; and one room will feature a village scene.

n Bill and Mickey Lundy, 204 N. Lincoln, 620-382-3506.

In a home built in 1887, a Christmas tree with multi-colored lights and favorite family ornaments will be the highlight of the Lundy holiday home.

Many of the decorations focus on treasured family memories, with ornaments made by the children or collected by the family.

Victorian-style decorations will be on display throughout the house and on a Christmas tree-all reflecting the ambiance of the late 1800s.

n Amy Rasmussen, 318 N. Cedar, 620-382-2661.

The home features many different themes as a backdrop for holiday decorations.

The red and white colors in the kitchen reflect the retro period of the 1950s, and Coca Cola collectibles adorn the room. Visitors are cautioned to stop for a moment to enjoy vintage records and Archie comic books decorating the walls.

In addition to discovering a southwest theme in the home, visitors will see a nine-foot Christmas tree, resplendent in Victorian-era ornaments, to enchant and delight young and old alike.

n Gerald and Jan Wiens, 1023 Welch, 620-382-3754.

Built in 2003, the home serves to showcase Gerald's extensive framed nature photography on display. Artwork of animals captured in their natural surrounding and in all seasons will bring visitors face to face with Mother Nature and her children.

Handmade by Jan's grandparents, some of the furniture in the home honors the value of family heirlooms.

Continuing to bring the outdoor feeling inside, the couple has decorated Christmas trees with natural ornaments, such as berries and pine cones.

A more traditional Christmas tree with family ornaments will also be on display.

Refreshments will be served at the Marion library.

Tickets are $5 each and may be purchased either in advance at the library or at the homes the day of the tour. Proceeds will benefit the library.

For more information, call the library at 620-382-2442 or the tour homes.
