Norton G. Jost, 75

Norton G. Jost, 75, Co-op clerk, died Nov. 3 in Hillsboro.

The funeral was Nov. 6 at Trinity Mennonite Church in Hillsboro with pastor Dave Plett officiating. Burial was at French Creek Cemetery in rural Hillsboro.

He was born April 2, 1929, to George S. and Elizabeth (Schroeder) Jost in Hillsboro. On Sept. 3, 1950, he was married to Nellie Hamm, who survives.

He is also survived by two sons, Richard Jost and wife Kelly of Goessel and Russell Jost and Edy Brundage of Hillsboro; four daughters, Jolene Aaron and husband Don of Peoria, Ariz., Corrine Foth of Hillsboro, Carla Harmon and husband Tom of Durham and Kris Jost of Wichita; four brothers, Marvin Jost and Larry Jost, both of Hillsboro, Lee Jost of Henderson, Neb., and Dean Jost of Aurora, Neb.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial has been established with the Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church Building Fund.

Michael Martinez, 66

Michael R. Martinez, 66, retired railroad and USD 398 employee, died Nov. 2 at Newton Medical Center.

The funeral was Nov. 6 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Florence with Father Steven Gronert officiating. Burial was at Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Peabody.

He was born Sept. 29, 1938, to Juan and Josefina (Modesto) Martinez in Florence. On Oct. 22, 1960, he was married to Frances Saenz, who survives.

He is also survived by two sons, David M. Martinez of Peabody and Paul D. Martinez of Newton; four daughters, Paula Harris, Rebecca Rablin and Sarah Sears, all of Peabody, and Charlene Garcia of Hutchinson; three brothers, Joe Martinez of Wichita, Raymond Martinez of Marion and Guadalupe Martinez of Newton; four sisters, Angie Garcia of Newton, Betty Martinez of Newton, Louisa Gomez of Chicago and Dorothy Pineda of Lyons, Ill.; 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

A memorial has been established with the Cancer Center of Kansas, Newton Satellite.
