First-year MHS softball coach has 12 returning players

Seniors and returning letter-winners on the 2007 Marion High School softball team are (juniors, front row, left to right): Kristin Waner, Tacy Taylor, Valeree Hett, Lanna Carroll, Lauren Helmer, Austin Percell; (seniors, back row) Stefanie Schell, Jandee Sharp, Morgan Cady, Kari Tajchman, Sonja Steinborn and Erika Geis. First-year Marion High School softball coach Sandy Black will have an intriguing group of freshmen to complement a deep group of upperclassmen coming off a 7-13 season in 2006. “I would rather focus on this year and the good group of athletic girls I have out,” Black said. “Each and every girl will be an important part of the team and play an important role in helping us to be successful. I do not want to single out any of my girls, we are a team and we are all very talented.” The squad will open its season at home against Smoky Valley on Tuesday, April 3.
