With clippers in hand, Kirk Stierwalt explains the fine points of trimming and grooming a show steer for exhibition to about three dozen participants at a two-day Stierwalt Showcattle School on Friday and Saturday at the Marion County Fairgrounds in Hillsboro. Stierwalt, who hails from Leedey, Okla., travels the region helping people of all ages acquire the skills needed to put the "competitive edge" on their side. Stierwalt says his clinics provide “a wealth of knowledge including many things that have taken years of being in the business to learn.” Participants included several 4-Hers from Marion County, the rest of Kansas and several surrounding states.
