As I compose this column Saturday, the Final Four basketball extravaganza has yet to begin. The front page of the Wichita Eagle carries this announcement: “To bring you results from tonight’s Kansas-North Carolina game, delivery of some Sunday newspapers may be delayed.”
“Can I visit a farm in Vietnam?” I asked my friend Greg Farris when we were planning our overlapping trips to Vietnam.
“No problem. My wife Chau is planning to visit her relatives who are farmers and you can come along.” Greg was also a GI in Vietnam in the 1960s. He married a Vietnamese co-worker and they have lived in California for decades.
Our cat population on the farm currently stands at two, down sharply from a baker's dozen since two years ago. The short haired female’s name is Baby, a distant descendant of a female we received from some neighbors back in the ’80s.
So I’m kind of thinking of this column in terms of numbers—number of days until things happen, number of days since something has happened, number of any random thing that comes to my mind....
The deadline for making a reservation for the Hillsboro High School All School Reunion Banquet on Saturday night, May 24, is just around the bend. May 16 to be exact.
The Alumni Association committee is pleased with the response it has been getting from all over the country.
If you were thinking about buying stock in any large companies, I would strongly suggest getting a few shares of Petco. My reasoning is that I now own a mouse.
For those of you who don’t know, Petco is a large, franchised pet store that specializes in selling small animals that serve no real purpose in the (cue “Lion King” music) Great Circle of Life other than pooping and dying.
