Hillsboro American Legion Post 366 added four more wins to its resume this week and improved its record to 7-1.
Hillsboro outscored Peabody 11-4 and 16-11 on Tuesday. On Thursday, Hillsboro tallied a 7-1 win over Lyons before eking out a 12-11 victory in the second game.
Lyons—Travis Riesen took the hill for the first game and allowed one run and six runners in seven innings.
How is it that we wink or look the other way concerning some aspects of cheating in baseball while we act shocked and appalled on other occasions?
A story on ESPN.com about the biggest cheaters in baseball noted that “this could also be called the worst cheaters because the best cheaters are the ones we don’t know about who still haven’t been caught.”
The Tabor College Athletic Department has announced the signing of additional athletes for the new school year.<p>Jason Aubrey, Bartlesville, Okla., has signed to participate in football. He will transfer from Emporia State University.<p>According to Mike Gottsch, Bluejay head coach, Aubrey was “an exceptional passing quarterback” at Bartlesville High School.<p>“He is very competitive and will bring solid leadership qualities to the team,” Gottsch said. “He is a young man of faith and will be a very positive influence on the Tabor campus.”
Several Tabor College student-athletes were recognized for regional and national honors at its annual athletic banquet in May.
In addition, Ashley Malcom, Lymon, Colo. was named Tabor’s “outstanding female athlete of the year” while Andrew Brubacher, Hillsboro, was named “outstanding male athlete of the year.”
The “outstanding scholar athletes of the year” were Emily Vogts, North Newton, and Lindsey Vogts, Moundridge.
