Friction between staff leads commissioners into executive session PDF Print E-mail

The Marion County Commission met Monday with extensive executive sessions for personnel between other topics that took them into a lengthy 6.5-hour meeting compared to its average 3-hour meeting.

The commissioners also took the added unusual step of calling for an additional meeting in executive session at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Baseball boosters apparently got the nod from the Marion City Council Monday to push ahead with plans for new restrooms at the baseball complex after it was learned that Marion Manufac­turing has pledged to donate a metal building to be put up with volunteer labor for the project.

Marion to prepare terms for land sale for county jail project PDF Print E-mail

The Marion City Council Monday promised the Marion County Board of Commissioners at the council’s Jan. 28 meeting that it would reply by letter within two weeks on what terms it would offer the county for a little more than seven acres in the southeast corner of Batt Industrial Park for possible construction of a new corrections center.

Road & Bridge to replace half of 150 missing road signs PDF Print E-mail

The Marion County Commission met Thursday, Jan. 31, in a payday meeting that paid out $793,196 in expenses.

County Clerk Carol Maggard reported sales tax money received at $46,782, more than a $3,000 increase over the $43,269 received in January a year ago.
