We are almost to June, a month that reminds me of picnics, swimming,
baseball games, sipping fresh lemonade, honoring our fathers on
Father’s Day and seeing new flowers in the yard and fresh vegetables in
the garden.

Ida Gladys Horst, 94, nurse, died Tuesday, May 20, at Schowalter Villa in Hesston.
A memorial service is planned for 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Schowalter Villa Chapel in Hesston. A private burial will take place Friday morning at Eastlawn Cemetery.
She was born March 29, 1914, to Adam and Cora (Grove) Eshleman in Hagerstown, Md. On June 4, 1937, she was married to Clarence A. Horst, who predeceased her in 1982.
She is survived by two daughters, Ruby Sawin of Hesston and Twila Van Rossun of rural Newton; two sons, Donald of rural Newton and Roy of Naples, Fla.; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 22, at Showalter Villa Chapel, with family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Memorial donations may be given to the Schowalter Villa Good Samaritan Fund in care of Miller Funeral Home, Hesston.
Arthur Janzen, 89, former Hesston Corp. employee and woodworker, died Saturday, may 17, at Kidron Bethel Health Care in
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Faith Mennonite Church, Newton, with pastor Gordon Smith officiating. Burial will precede the service at 9:30 a.m. at the Tabor Church Cemetery, rural Goessel.
He was born Nov. 27, 1918, to Dan R. and Tina (Schmidt) Janzen. On Nov. 6, 1947, he was married to Helen R. Schmidt, who survives in Kidron Bthel Health Care.
He also is survived by a son, Randall and wife Rachel of Turpin, Okla.; a brother, Floyd and wife Anna Mae; a sister-in-law, Irene Janzen; two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Petersen Funeral Home, Newton, with family receiving friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Mennonite Church or Kidron Bethel.
