The Eagles went 2-3 at the eight-team Goessel Invitational
on Saturday. They defeated Halstead (28-26, 25-9) and South Haven
(25-21, 25-18) in pool play, qualifying for the championship bracket.
But the Eagles lost to third-place Sedgwick (22-25, 25-22, 14-25),
second-place Central Christian (15-25, 25-23, 16-25) and eventual
champion Remington (16-25, 25-21, 23-25).
CGHS played a quadrangular
at Bennington Sept. 4. The Eagles went 2-1, defeating Goessel (20-25,
25-23, 25-19) and Bennington (25-27, 25-18, 25-17) and losing to Hutch
Trinity (12-25, 25-21, 21-25).
Canton-Galva played at Berean on Tuesday and will play at Marion on Saturday and at home Sept. 18.
The Warriors improved to 2-0 Friday with a 56-0 win over Bennington.
Nathan Bishop ran for two touchdowns and threw four more—two apiece to Adam Benson and Brandon Pickens.
Benson finished with six catches for 121 yards. Trevor Hamm rushed for 125 yards on 16 attempts, and Elliot Spechtenhauser ran for 93 yards on 11 carries.
