The Bluebirds lost their season opener 47-26 Friday at Remington. A
12-4 Bronco run in the first quarter had Goessel playing from behind
all night.
Jennifer Raymond, Aspen Frey and Karina Harvey each
scored in the second quarter, and the Bluebirds matched the Remington
total in the frame making 18-10 the halftime score.
Four members of the Hillsboro High School football team received all-class recognition by the Wichita Eagle.
Spencer Brown, a 5-foot, 10-inch senior, was named to the Class 3A first team as a defensive back.
Receiving honorable mention were junior Daniel Jost at receiver, junior John Hein at offensive line and senior Jacob Yoder at running back.
Other area athletes to be recognized were: Canton-Galva senior Andrew Westbrook, honorable mention Class 2-1A linebacker; and Goessel athletes, junior Craig Banman, first team eight-man kicker, junior Austin Unruh, honorable mention quarterback, and sophomore Weston Hiebert, honorable mention wide receiver.
Bobbi Jo Carlson, a setter on Hillsboro High’s 31-6 league-champion volleyball team, signed a letter of intent Wednesday to compete at Hesston College next fall.
