Helen J. Thiessen, 94, farmer’s wife, died July 16 in Hillsboro.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 20, at Parkview Mennonite Brethren Church, Hillsboro, with pastor Steve Schroeder officiating. She will buried at a private service for family.
She was born June 27, 1914, to Gerhard and Helena (Klassen) Warkentin in rural Lehigh. On June 9, 1935, she was married to Isaac F. Thiessen, who survives.
She also is survived by a son, Paul I. Thiessen of Wichita; four daughters, Joyce Kessler and Arlene Schale, both of Hillsboro, Carol Geabhart of Newton and Karen York of Kansas City, Kan.; three sisters, Mary Thiessen of Hillsboro, Lydia McDonald of Tulsa, Okla., and Elma Warkentin of Hillsboro; 16 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Willis Ray Schmidt, 73, retired office manager for cooperatives in Lehigh, Hillsboro, Durham and Tampa, died July 16 at his residence in Newton.
A memorial services is planned for 11 a.m. Monday, July 21, at Trinity Heights United Methodist Church, Newton, with pastors Phil Fischer and Laney Kuhn officiating. A private family inumment will be at Johannestal Cemetery, rural Hillsboro.
He was born in 1934 to Herman and Susie (Unruh) Schmidt at Hillsboro. On Sept. 30, 1956, he was married to Marilyn Kay Halplain, who survives.
He also is survived by two daughters, Gayle Schmidt of Hutchinson and Carmen and husband Peter Kaufman of Newton; two brothers, Eldon and Howard, both of Hillsboro; a sister, Luella Bartel of McPherson; and three grandchildren.
Memorials have been established for Trinity Heights United Methodist Church and Hospice Care of Kansas; contributions may be sent in care of Kaufman Funeral Home in Halstead.
Helen Maxine (Taylor) Auernheimer, 86, died July 13 at Newton Medical Center.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. July 17 at the Goessel Mennonite Church. Burial will be at the Hesston City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., July 16 at Miller Funeral Home in Goessel.
She was born Nov. 12, 1921 to Thomas William and Una May (Patterson) Taylor in Augusta. On June 8, 1941, she was married to Edgar Willis Auernheimer, who survives.
She is also survived by five children, Lynn Auernheimer and Maxine O’Neill of Canton, Cheryl Hoffman of Carlsbad, Calif., Carol Gibbens of Halstead, Joan Jacobsen of Newton, and Anthony and Audrey Auernheimer of Salina; a sister, Ella Bell Miller of Augusta; six grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
A memorial fund has been established with the Make-A-Wish Foundation in care of the funeral home.
Malakai Linn Friesen, infant son of Travis and Hilarey Friesen, died July 7.
He was buried at a private graveside service.
He is survived by his parents; grandparents Randy and LaVon Friesen and Steve and Shelli Dechant; aunts Hollie and Casey Reece, Hope Dechant, Danielle Friesen; great-grandparents Frances Norris, Marvin and Clara Dechant, Elmer and Leona Friesen; and great-great-grandmother, Hilda Thiessen.
Jonah C. Kliewer, 75, former professor of music at Tabor College, died July 12 in Hillsboro.
The service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 22 at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church with David Plett officiating.
The family will receive guests from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, July 21 at Hillsboro M.B. Church.
He was born May 8, 1933, to J.C. and Mary Thomas Kliewer in Isabella, Okla. On June 24, 1955, he was married to Elinor Ewert, who survives in Hillsboro.
He is also survived by three sons, Jan Kliewer of Powell, Wyo., Kenneth Kliewer of Hillsboro, and David Joel Kliewer of Newton; a daughter, Joan Kennedy of Omaha, Neb.; brothers Vernon Kliewer of Newton and Steve Kliewer of Isabella; a sister, Mary Elinor Gaede of Reedley, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A memorial fund has been established with the Jonah Kliewer Scholarship Fund for the music department at Tabor.
