Sewer-cleaning process could affect some Hillsboro homes

Sewer-line cleaning will occur in the shaded area from March 17 through 21.

Residents who live in the southwest sector of Hillsboro should be aware that their homes may be affected by a sanitary-sewer cleaning project that started Monday and will last through Friday of this week.

Busy three-day results in only one significant fire loss

Hillsboro Fire Department volunteer Jason Rooker loads gear back into the firetruck park in front of the Tabor College Student Center Monday morning. The smoke that prompted the evacuation of students turned out to be an electrical motor malfunction.

Students, faculty and staff were safely evacuated from the Student Center at Tabor College at around 9 a.m. Monday after smoke was discovered in the campus bookstore.

David Kohl, agricultural economist from Virginia Tech, advised about 110 farm producers and businessmen Feb. 26 at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethern Church to keep their cash reserves up and stay flexible in the coming economic world.
