On a cool and breezy Saturday afternoon, and with a thin cloud of diesel smoke wafting through the air, Tabor College and Unified School District 410 broke ground for a jointly funded facility for football and track and field.
The afternoon was billed as an Anticipation Party and Groundbreaking Ceremony.
The party included free admission for the entire community to the Tabor College football game against Kansas Wesleyan. Fans received commemorative cups and footballs and other items from the campus bookstore, and cotton candy and cupcakes were available for everyone.

Marion Reservoir is filling with sediment and nutrients that cause it to change to swamp conditions at a fast pace.
The change is occurring so quickly that experts at an Oct. 23 meeting in the Marion City Auditorium said there could be water shortages by 2012 if a 2 percent drought occurred.
Deer migration and mating season, known as “the rut,” has begun. In Kansas the season runs from October through December with the peak occuring within the first two weeks of November, said Matt Farmer, public lands wildlife biologist technician with Kansas Wildlife and Parks.
Falling short of having the “super majority” needed to ratify an ordinance that would have broadened the location options for restaurants desiring to serve liquor by the drink, the Hillsboro Council decided at its Oct. 16 meeting to table the issue.
