New TV ad campaign will promote community's benefits

Hillsboro residents may see a familiar place being promoted over the airwaves of a Wichita television station.

Starting this week, a series of 60 30-second ads promoting Hillsboro as a good place to live, play and work are being broadcast over KWCH Channel 12 this spring and again this fall as part of a locally coordinated campaign to generate interest in the community.

Volunteers brave chilly weather to remove trash around reservoir

Young volunteers collect trash at Marion Reservoir on Saturday. Volunteers from Marion Middle School, 4-H clubs and Parkview Mennonite Brethren Church filled a Dumpster load of trash from all areas around the lake

Fifty-three volunteers braved Saturday’s strong northwest winds to clean up the Marion Reservoir.

Hillsboro is ‘Tree City’ for 13th year

Mayor Delores Dalke accepts the plaque recognizing Hillsboro as a “Tree City USA” from Ray Aslin, state forester with the Kansas Forest Service. The presentation was made by the KFS and the National Arbor Day Foundation March 26 in Manhattan.
