Where can I volunteer?
- The Hillsboro Recycling Center relies on volunteers during its open hours. Contact Paul Jantzen at 620-947-5433 for more information.
- The Hillsboro Lions Club is a community service organization that takes on many projects throughout the year. Contact David Wienck at david@shredks.com for more information.

- The City of Hillsboro has several Boards and Commissions that are served by volunteers. These include Board of Zoning Appeals, Hillsboro Community Planning & Development Commission, Convention & Visitor’s Bureau, Hillsboro Airport Board, Hillsboro Housing Authority, Hillsboro Recreation Commission, Hillsboro Tree Board, Hillsboro Museum Advisory Board, Hillsboro Community Medical Center Board, Marion County Economic Development Council and Hillsboro Public Library. What else is there for senior citizens to do?
Learning in Retirement
Learning in Retirement is a series of seven Friday morning sessions held on the Tabor College campus each semester. A variety of interesting and educational topics are covered by guest presenters. The meetings are held in the ground-level Wohlgemuth Music Education Center on the northwest corner of Tabor's Hillsboro campus.
The Fall 2012 series will begin Sept. 28 and end Nov. 30. The fee to attend is $4 per person per meeting, which is payable at the door. Series memberships are also available for $15 per person, or $29 per couple.

Does everyone get residential delivery?
While residential delivery (homes, rural, and neighborhood collection boxes) is quite common in Marion County, there are some areas where it is not available. Contact your local post office (see above) for your community's details. Post office boxes are also available.
Where can I take music lessons?
Contact the Tabor College (620-947-3121) Music Department for available lessons. Or contact your local school district for music opportunities.

What parades are conducted annually?
- Marion County Fair Parade is located on Hillsboro's Main Street.

How can I get involved in local parent/child organized activities?
Hillsboro Public Library offers several programs throughout the year. Information can be viewed at the library's Website.
Check with your child's school for other upcoming events.
Where, what and when can I recycle?
The Hillsboro Recycling Center is located at 112 N. Birch St., and is open Thursdays from 5-7 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m.-12 p.m. The First Mennonite Church operates the facility and accepts community volunteers to run the center. The materials accepted include corrugated cardboard, glass food and beverage containers, aluminum cans, steel cans, tin cans, magazines and catalogs, newspaper, office paper and plastic bottles #1 and #2.
