Leland Unruh, 92, a farmer and retired Kansas Jack Corporation employee , died Friday, March 20, at Memorial Hospital in McPherson.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 23, at the Canton United Methodist Church. Visitation is from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 22 at Olson’s Mortuary, 139 N. Main, Canton. Burial will be in the Canton Township Cemetery.

DEATH John W. Brookens, 92

John W. Brookens, 92, a retired 2nd Judicial District judge, died Monday, March 16, in Shawnee.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 21, at United Methodist Church, 109 Main St., Westmoreland. Burial will follow at the Westmoreland City Cemetery in Westmoreland.

Visitation is from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Stewart Funeral Chapel, 301 Main St., Westmoreland.

He was born Jan. 13, 1917, to E.C. and Flora E. Brookens in Westmoreland. On Nov. 9, 1943, he married Ethel Christenson, who predeceased him in June 1989.

On Feb. 14, 1994, he married Regina Nedwed Moody, who predeceased him in May 2008.

DEATH Aaron "Tim" Steinborn, 48

Aaron Timothy “Tim” Steinborn, 48, a handyman in Ramona, died Monday, March 9, from cancer.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 21, at 110 North F St., Ramona.

He was born Aug. 5, 1960, to Ralph A. Steinborn Sr. and Frances E. (Gasswint) Buxman in Abilene.

Survivors include his companion Pat Wick of Ramona; brothers Ralph Steinborn of Salina, Kevin Steinborn of Marion and Scott Buxman of Ulysses and sisters Linda Callis of Abilene, Patty Davis of Salina and Sandra Svoboda of Ramona.

Memorials may be made to the City of Ramona’s Special Memorial Fund or the Harry Hines Hospice and sent in care of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home & Crematory, Herington Chapel, 404 S. Broadway, Herington, KS 67449-3038.

Daryl Lee Friesen, 44, of Newton, died Thursday, March 12, in Wichita. Services and burial will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 14, at Gnadenau Cemetery, one mile south of Hillsboro, with pastor Steve Schroeder officiating.

He was born Aug. 29, 1964, to Orley John and Karen Lavalle (Garrison) Friesen in Dallas Ore.

Survivors include his father of Mesa, Ariz.; brother Jon Marvin Friesen of Herington and sisters Juanita Harrison of Hillsboro and Kimberly Wilson of Phoenix, Ariz.

Memorials may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association and sent in care of Jost Funeral Home, 401 S. Washington St., Hillsboro, KS 67063.
