Six hospitalized after two-car accident at U.S. 56 & 77 junction

Six people were taken to two area hospitals following a two-vehicle crash late Tuesday afternoon on U.S. Highway 56 and the junction of U.S. Highway 77, three miles east of Marion.
The accident happened at 5:42 p.m. when a car driven by Kabirou Saidykhan, 34, of Shawnee pulled out from the eastbound stop sign and hit an oncoming vehicle driven by Lacey Tipton, 20, of Arkansas City, injuring both drivers.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, four other passengers in the two cars also were taken by ambulance to either Hillsboro Community Hospital or St. Luke Hospital in Marion.
Saidykhan, driving a 2012 Chevrolet, and his passenger, Sanna Touray, 37, were both taken to HCH.
Tipton, driving a 2004 Jeep, was transported to SLH. Passengers in her vehicle, according to the KHP, were taken by ambulance to SLH and included Merry Tipton, 54, Talia McNickle, 19, and Tania Fuentes Sota, 20, all from Arkansas City.
The drivers and passengers in both vehicles were wearing seat belts and both cars were towed by Auto House in Marion.
No other details about injuries or condition reports were available Wednesday.
