Late foul trouble and a breakdown on defense let Hastings College back in the game and ultimately resulted in a 62-54 defeat for the Tabor women's basketball team tonight, dropping them to 8-6 overall.

The Bluejays had a slim advantage as the second half began, but Hastings chipped away at the Tabor advantage and finally tied it, 44-44, with back-to-back three-pointers at 10:01. Two free throws capped a 14-point run for Hastings, giving them a 52-44 lead at 4:49, before Nikki Lewis finally hit a perimeter bucket to break the drought.

But the whistles abounded and Hastings got six straight points at the line to claim a double-digit margin, 57-47. Lewis and Tynan Honn earned four points at the line around the two and one-minute marks, but Jazmyne Smith missed the lay-up off the steal and Tabor's opportunity for a comeback began to slip away.

Hastings' defense did its job as the clock ticked down, holding Tabor to just one free throw in the last minute until Katlyn Mary hit a jumper buzzer shot for the final margin.

Janelle Rust scored 14 points and Lewis 13 points to lead the Bluejay attack.
