Centre FFA competes at Marion

Members of the Centre FFA Chapter traveled to Marion Feb. 18 to participate in the South Central District Food Science and Poultry Evaluation career development event.

According to Laura Klenda, chapter adviser, Greenhands participating in the Food Science CDE were challenged on their knowledge of food safety and operations in a test and photo evaluation form, along with identifying aromas and product differences in the triangle test.

The Greenhand (freshman) team placed sixth in its division. Members were Meghan David, Cody Svoboda, Jacob Bittle, Grace Peterson and Cole Srajer.

In Poultry Evaluation, members ranked live and processed chickens, meat products, interior and exterior quality of eggs, and took a written exam.

Centre?s ?A? team completed a team-activity exam, placing third as a team. Team members were Haley Rudolph (sixth individual), Hannah Peterson, Alexius Kendrick and Rebecca Reneau.

Karoline Chizek participated in the B-team division.

Placing fourth in the Greenhand Division were Zach Barney (first place individual), Janel Dones, Bryce Brunner, Payton Harms and Rebecca Casey.
