The board of directors of Cooperative Grain & Supply recently teamed with Land O’Lakes Foundation to contribute total of $2,000 to Marion Advancement Campaign Inc. for the city’s Central Park improvement project.
Todd Heitschmidt, MAC chairman, received the check from Clifford Hett, CG&S board member. Also participating in the presentation were Mike Thomas, manager of the Marion CG&S elevator; Doug Kjellin, Marion city administrator; Greg Carlson, MAC board member; and Laura Legg, manager of the CG&S-owned Ampride convenience store in Marion.
CG&S and Land O’Lakes also contributed $1,000 toward a proposed youth center in Hillsboro.
The Land O’Lakes Foundation has a matching-fund program that matches dollar for dollar a rural cooperative’s donation to community projects.
This is the 10th year CG&S has participated in the program, and more than $45,000 has been donated to community projects, including local fire departments, colleges, 4-H clubs, area hospitals and other community organizations.
“CG&S believes in supporting the communities that we are a part of and by using the funds available from LOL Foundation, CG&S has been able to double the amount given,” according to Lyman Adams, CG&S general manager.
