An extension into farm bulk-seed sales has led Ag Service Inc., located on Kanza Road southeast of Hillsboro, to greatly expand its facilities with the addition of a new 60-foot by 160-foot building.
Mike Kleiber, owner and manager of ASI, said the building will help the company also expand its services in supplying and applying environmentally sound agronomic applications of pesticides and nutrients.
He will schedule a grand opening for the building soon.
Although most company trucking will continue to operate from Hillsboro, Kleiber said he expects business expansion also at the company’s branch operations center at Whitewater.
The company, established in 1975, is adding two employees to its average 40-person workforce, Kleiber said, keeping with the company’s policies of knowledgeable skilled personnel.
The metal building is divided into two 60-by-80-foot sections, one of them for office space and the other to join with the company’s former office building to expand production facilities and storage.
“The old office building will give us more usable space to expand equipment and truck parts,” Kleiber said.
The building was constructed by Jantz Construction of Hillsboro with the concrete work done by Hett Construction of Marion.
“It gives us flexibility, versatility and room to extend services,” Kleiber said of the facility.
With new varieties of crops and improved chemicals, Kleiber said Ag Service is poised with everybody else locally in agriculture to have some great years if only the area can also have more rain.
