Area students achieve college degrees and honors

Several more students from the Free Press distribution area have completed degrees or been recognized for their academic work in colleges and universities around the state in recent weeks.
• Two of the 98 students who received degrees May 20 from Bethany College in Lindsborg came from this area.
Andrew John Westbrook from Canton received a degree in athletic training, biology; Suzanne Amelia Lindsay from Hillsboro graduated with a degree in studio art: drawing.
• Area students named to Fort Hays State University’s spring 2012 Dean’s Honor Roll included: Candace Green, a senior majoring in education, and Tobey Green, a senior majoring in education, from Burns; Kara Paramore, a freshman majoring in art (graphic design) from Canton; Aidan Winblad, a sophomore majoring in physics from Goessel; Anthony Esau, a junior majoring in art (graphic design) from Hillsboro; Jacob Yoder, a senior majoring in technology studies (industrial technology) from Peabody.
• Participating in Washburn University’s commencement ceremonies May 12 were: Elisa Gayle, bachelor of science, business administration, and bachelor of arts in mathematics, Florence; Riley Ross, bachelor of science, chemistry, Marion; Jessica Vogel, bachelor of arts, music performance, Marion;
• Among the 100 members of Bethel College’s Class of 2012 receiving degrees May 20 were: Ryan Goertzen, bachelor of science degree in social work, Goessel; Cameron Voth, bachelor of science in business administration, Goessel; and Peter Wintermote, bachelor of science degree in social work, Hillsboro.
• Among the 3,200 Kansas State University students who earned honors for their academic performance during the spring semester were: Jaclyn Deforest, Florence; Alexander Jost and Lance Kliewer, Hillsboro; Neal Kaiser and David Ratzloff, Lehigh; Carlye Simons and Nicole Stenzel of Lost Springs; Nellie Hill, Patrick Hodson, Drew Maddox, Tristen Snelling, Derek Stuchlik, Eric Vogel and Julia Zeiner, Marion; Seth Methvin and Joseph Zappone, Peabody; and Matthew Klenda, Tampa.
