Library, garden benefit from Florence Community Foundation grants

MB Foundation selects new operations system

MB Foundation has selected Stellar’s iPhi Product Suite to enhance its operations and build capacity.

Stellar Technology Solutions LLC, based in Stroudsburg, Pa., is a leading provider of web-based solutions for philanthropic operations and fund management.

According to Jon C. Wiebe, MBF president and chief executive officer, the selection will provide a fully integrated donor infrastructure to streamline administration and power real-time Internet account access and communications services for donors, ministry partners and other key constituents.

The new system will streamline financial and operations management and enhance services to customers, Wiebe added.

CG&S donates $2,000 to Marion park project

The board of directors of Cooperative Grain & Supply recently teamed with Land O’Lakes Foundation to contribute total of $2,000 to Marion Advancement Campaign Inc. for the city’s Central Park improvement project.

Todd Heitschmidt, MAC chairman, received the check from Clifford Hett, CG&S board member. Also participating in the presentation were Mike Thomas, manager of the Marion CG&S elevator; Doug Kjellin, Marion city administrator; Greg Carlson, MAC board member; and Laura Legg, manager of the CG&S-owned Ampride convenience store in Marion.

CG&S and Land O’Lakes also contributed $1,000 toward a proposed youth center in Hillsboro.

Council OKs permit for taxidermy

The Hillsboro City Council approved a Planning Commis­sion recommendation during its April 16 meeting to grant a conditional-use permit to Sean and Adrienne Bech­told to operate a taxidermy business at their residence at 308 E. A St.

The part-time enterprise “has operated under the radar for eight years,” City Admini­strator Larry Paine wrote in a memo to council members.

Paine said the request for a permit came after the city received a complaint from a neighbor that basically said, “If I have to have a conditional-use permit for a home business, then he needs one, too.”

At its March 28 meeting, the Planning Commission had reviewed the application. One neighbor had complained about the business prior to the meeting, but...

For the second consecutive year, Container Services Inc. of Hillsboro has received the Supplier Excellence Award from BG Products Inc. of Wichita. One of about 300 suppliers working with BG Products, CSI manufactures high-density polyurethane containers for car-care additives that BG Products markets through a network of independent distributors in the U.S. and internationally. The award recognizes a supplier’s years of superior service, quality and value.
