The Center for the Mennonite Brethren Studies at Tabor College will be the first stop during the four-week internship experience. Bartel will work there May 13-17.

The equipment would separate hydrogen from oxygen in water from a process other than electrolysis for combustion that would return it back to water to produce usable power.
The Marion County Commission Monday referred Rolland Boesker, a Burns city commission member, to Teresa Huffman, Marion County Economic Development director, help in getting grant money to locate Ridder Industries there.
Boesker said he is working with others who might present Florence as an alternative if Burns is unable to provide a suitable location.
An added benefit may be the manufacturing purifying well water from the area that has mineralization levels too...

An exhibit showcasing local artists is on display at Hillsboro Public Library, 120 E. Grand Ave., throughout the month of May.
The artists are from Letty Enns’ painting group and is in the medium of pencil, oil and watercolor.
Artists featured include Geneva Becker, Doris Guhr, Billy Kuesser, Joan Heinrichs, Sheila Nuss, Teresa Rammers, Regina Ogle, Pam Riesen, Shirley Reusser and Letty Enns.
The library is open Mondays from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Tuesdays through Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to noon.

Lewis was elected treasurer and Riffel as office of sentinel, according to Laura Klenda, FFA adviser.
Seven members were recognized for completing requirements for the state FFA degree: Justin Deines, Kyle Methvin, Chad Mueller, Tom Oborny, Tanner Peterson, Karl Riffel and Ty Simons. They will receive the degree at the state convention May 31.
Tom Oborny was recognized as a district proficiency award winner in the area of agriculture mechanics design and fabrication. “His application placed second at the state level,” Klenda said.

Written by Don Ratzlaff Tuesday, 14 May 2013 13:36The Hillsboro City Council approved the purchase of a replacement vehicle for the fire department during its May 7 meeting.
Fire Chief Ben Steketee reported that he became aware of a 2010 Chevy 1500 pickup with emergency equipment that currently is being upgraded by a member of the Andover Fire/ Rescue department.The Chevy will replace the Suburban command vehicle that Steketee currently uses. The purchase price of the Chevy was $26,000.
Steketee said the vehicle does not completely match his specifications, but it is close. A grill guard and winch would need to be added for about $2,500.
Replacing the Suburban was included in the 2013 budget and was planned as a lease purchase, according to City Administrator Larry Paine.
