Main Street seal-coat project in Hillsboro rescheduled for July 13-14

Monday?s rain has prompted a delay in the Main Street seal-coat project dates in downtown Hillsboro, according to the city street department. Rather than the original plan of Thursday and Friday of this week, the project will take place Monday, July 13, and Tuesday, July 14 — assuming the weather cooperates.

On Monday, the east half of Main Street, from D Street to Third Street, will be closed to traffic, plus the entire 100 block of East Grand Avenue.

On Tuesday, the west half of Main and the entire 100 block of West Grand will be closed to traffic while the seal coat is applied.

The city is asking that vehicles be off the street by 7 a.m. both mornings to enable crews to apply the seal coat as an important maintenance project to extend the life of those streets. Residents who have a car garaged in this area should make arrangements to park it along a side street or alley on the designated day. The seal coat should bring a fresh ?new? look to the downtown area when the project is complete.
